 | volume 7, number 12 December 2002 | | New Mexico's Premier Food, Arts and Lifestyle Magazine | Letter from the EditorWalnuts, oranges, chocolate coins and ribbon candies. When I was a kid, these were some of the tiny treasures that would come tumbling out of my upended fuzzy red stocking on Christmas morning. But this year I'll be traveling in Vietnam over the holidays, and when I wake up to a balmy December morning in Saigon I expect to find a flip-flop full of lychee nuts, star fruits, fish sauce and rice whiskey. Though the prospect of "missing" Christmas doesn't bother me one bit, I know it will irk my sister. To her, celebrating Christmas is all about honoring our family traditions: Eating all the chocolate in the advent calendar at once, swearing we'll go to midnight mass but flaking out at the last minute and opening all of our presents on Christmas Eve. Hmm, now that I think about it, I bet I'll be able to convince her that we can accomplish all of that no matter where we are. And I hope your holidays are happy wherever they find you. Gwyneth
